Lake Boondooma Caravan and Recreation Park is in the South Burnett region, QLD site 378 in the Caravan Parks 5 book or you can locate it on the #campsaustraliawideapp
Only 20 km north of Proston, it is a drawcard for anglers, campers, bird-watchers and water-sports enthusiasts. The dam was purpose-built in 1983 to provide a water supply to the Tarong Power Station. More recently, the former Wondai Shire Council and now the South Burnett Regional Council, has developed it into a major regional recreation area – with excellent fishing and amenities.
What to bring
If you love to fish, remember you need a stocked impoundment permit – purchase it online, at Australia Post or call 1300 575 359 during business hours.
Amenities are excellent for big groups
You’ll find BBQs, powered sites, a camp kitchen, playground and boat ramp. In addition to their cabins, you can lodge in The Bunkhouse, 3 km north of the camping grounds, higher up near the Dam Wall Lookout with views. It has 8 rooms, shared toilet and bathroom facilities and sleeps up to 32 people – so would be perfect for reunions and larger groups. The separate dining hall has full kitchen facilities. A linen hire service is available, it is to be paid on check-in.
Boondooma Dam is pet friendly, however there are no pets allowed inside any of the buildings or on verandah.

Nothing so good as poking your head out of the tent and finding yourself amongst the clouds. ☁️ If I had of been a bit quicker I would have scored here, but most of it had just blown away. Our beloved Lachlan is the subject, Lake Boondooma the backdrop…. Man, I will miss the old fella. He gets picked up tomorrow. Fare thee well old mate. Thanks for the memories and the good times. ✌️
@saltearthandsun loved being in the clouds with the fog, they have more beautiful photos on their page, check them out
