Alternative to driving Glen Innes – Tenterfield – we drove west to Emmaville (lovely little caravan park next to the public pool, and 2 pubs in town, one opposite a museum). Then onto the Torrington State Conservation Area.
Although this free site is overnight only, it has so much else going for it. Mother of Ducks Lagoon is located in Guyra, New South Wales.
West of Gloucester, and east of Scone, is a very special (and chilly) New South Wales national park and state forest. Forges Beach – Victoria Vic Parks have recently made some big changes to the camping options along the Murray River, consolidating many state forest, wildlife reserves, conservation areas and town commons under the umbrella of the National Parks system. This has cleared up a lot of confusion about who controls what, where to book and where to find the info you need to plan your trip. With roughly 2000km of river frontage in Victoria, you can only imagine the scale of the task placed upon Parks to achieve this outcome and we thank them for their hard work. This process
Lake Munmorah State Recreation Area image Tim Gilbert Lake Munmorah State Recreation Area is located between Wyong and Swansea, just north of Budgewoi on the beautiful New South Wales Central Coast. CAMPS visited Washpool Camping Reserve, Lake Leslie, Warwick, Queensland. We thought this camp spot was a beauty! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcQBMTzhCFI It has all the amenities of a caravan park, but there are spacious sites – swimming, fishing and boat ramp. Fires are allowed. Roos are nearby, too! It is a reserve, so there are no pets – and there is a seven day limit. BYO firewood, find a site and self register. From the Grampians to the Great Ocean Road and all across Victoria, families now have more opportunities to explore the great outdoors over Easter with the opening of new and upgraded campgrounds. Whether its pristine coastlines or the rugged High Country there is something for everyone, with a plethora of new and upgraded campgrounds. A further 23 new and 55 upgraded campgrounds are said to be finished by mid-next year, so stay posted. I was so excited the last time we visited Mt Kosciuszko Lookout (Victorian site 180 in Camps 11) – we spotted the peak itself! Initially I thought the white was part of the clouds – until I realised I was looking at Australia’s highest mountain. When you consider you walk up the mountain from Thredbo in NSW, it is pretty amazing you can spot it all the way from Victoria. The last time we drove through, it was hiding behind the clouds. These photos are taken from when we dropped into Kooroorinya Falls Nature Reserve – a little known community-owned camp area between Muttaburra and Prairie in Queensland. You’ll find it in the CAMPS 11 book out this month and the Camps Australia Wide App (QLD site 414 in CAMPS 10). When we were there in winter this year – there was a lot less water to what I’ll guess what is there right now! It was $20 per vehicle per night, no power, BYO water, generators ok 8am-6pm. It hosts the annual OAPRC – Kooroorinya Races so has excellent facilities
