New: Mount Taylor Forest Camp, Gippsland, Victoria

Mount Taylor Forest Camp is located in Gippsland, Victoria. Caron Horton from Facebook Group ‘Tripping with Caz and Pete’ said we must add it to the CAMPS guide and App! Caz said, “The drive here from Bairnsdale was glorious, with some very picturesque scenery. I was a little bit concerned as we got closer to the camp as there was lots of smoke in the air, but at the moment it is just a controlled burn, albeit a bit close for my liking.” “The camp is lovely – part of it is day use as there are a multitude

Barrington Tops State Forest Lookout
Camping

Have you camped at Barrington Tops, near Gloucester, NSW?

West of Gloucester, and east of Scone, is a very special (and chilly) New South Wales national park and state forest. As well as lookouts, there are seven camping options around Barrington Tops – including Polblue Campground which you can find in the first edition of CAMPS!  Check out these world class views from recently upgraded Cobark Lookout at Barrington Tops State Forest. Cobark Lookout is the first stop for visitors on their way across the Barrington Tops from Gloucester, so was a great candidate for an upgrade, said Forestry Corporation of NSW Tourism and Partnerships Manager Louise Faulkner. Changes to Murray River FREE camping near Yarrawonga, Victoria

Forges Beach – Victoria Vic Parks have recently made some big changes to the camping options along the Murray River, consolidating many state forest, wildlife reserves, conservation areas and town commons under the umbrella of the National Parks system. This has cleared up a lot of confusion about who controls what, where to book and where to find the info you need to plan your trip. With roughly 2000km of river frontage in Victoria, you can only imagine the scale of the task placed upon Parks to achieve this outcome and we thank them for their hard work. This process

Fires are allowed. Roos are nearby, too! It is a reserve, so there are no pets – and there is a seven day limit. BYO firewood, find a site and self register. This is a really pretty spot, right on the shores of Leslie Dam – or Lake Leslie. Facilities It is just down the road from Lake Leslie Caravan Park. Make

Free camp at Mt Kosciuszko Lookout, Victoria

I was so excited the last time we visited Mt Kosciuszko Lookout (Victorian site 180 in Camps 11) – we spotted the peak itself! Initially I thought the white was part of the clouds – until I realised I was looking at Australia’s highest mountain. When you consider you walk up the mountain from Thredbo in NSW, it is pretty amazing you can spot it all the way from Victoria. The last time we drove through, it was hiding behind the clouds. We were also thrilled to have made it to Victoria at all – thankfully before the lockdowns. This parking area
