2 free camps and budget showground at Urbenville, New South Wales

Isn’t it wonderful when a small country town offers not one, but two FREE camp areas and a budget site? Urbenville Forest Park is on the northern town boundary, bordered by Clarence Way and Tooloom Creek. This special area is south of Woodenbong and the Queensland border. It is surrounded by waterfalls, national parks and state forests. Jenny Woodley shared photos in our Facebook group “I Love Camping Australia WIde”. Jenny said “nice little free camp just out of Urbenville in N.S.W. Toilets, firepits and an abundance of birdlife.” The park is pet friendly with picnic tables, shade, mobile reception

Right on the Sandon River mouth, you have river on one side and protected ocean on the other. Brooms Head village is 12.5km away and there is 9 km of gravel road to the campground, which varies in condition. At times it may not be suitable for some caravans or vehicles. Check

Wollumbin National Park, New South Wales closures continue

From our visit in January 2020 – the National Park is currently closed The chains at the top of MT WARNING have been removed in the currently closed Wollumbin National Park (Courier Mail). Having grown up in the NSW Tweed Valley, I remember these chains well – they helped climbers reach the rocky summit – in the final leg of a 4 km hike up to the top of a mountain, where you could view Australia’s first sunrise of the day. The formerly known Mount Warning National Park was shut last March “to comply with COVID-19 rules on public gatherings and
