Fernlee Station Camping
Budget Campsite

NEW: Fernlee Station Camping

Nestled beside the beautiful Severn River in Northern NSW is our newest campsite.  Fernlee Station is a working cattle, kelpie, and Waler horse stud set amid the picturesque hills of Ashford.   They welcome caravans, RVs, camper trailers, and tents as long as you are fully self-contained and self-sufficient. This campsite offers a guarantee of peace and tranquility as it is set along 7km river frontage.  The unique feature of this camp is that only three sites are on offer and the sites are located far enough from each other – consequently, you will have complete privacy during your stay.  As

Free and pet friendly: Cangai Bridge at Jackadgery, NSW

This FREE pet-friendly camp spot is 20 km west of Jackadery via Gwydir Hwy. Small vehicles only, narrow bridges – we call it Cangai Bridge in CAMPS 11 – NSW site 245. Or find it on the Camps Australia Wide App! Photographer Anne Meagher says this area is also known as Hanging Rock, Jackadgery. It is for self contained vehicles, and Anne said there were plenty of caravans on site, with a good gravel road in from the highway. They camp on the grassy slopes just after the wooden bridge, probably about 8 km in from Gwydir Hwy. Fishing allowed

Bulahdelah awaiting reopening of key campgrounds

Image by Big4 River Myall Holiday Resort The last time we were Buladelah, we were very impressed. Here was a town that had been bypassed by the Pacific Highway – yet, there were caravans everywhere!  Set on the beautiful Myall River with mountainous backdrop, the town boasts beautiful picnic areas, 4 free/budget camps and a caravan park. Instead of businesses suffering from the bypass, by offering a range of accommodation for RV travellers, their tourism flourished.  However two campgrounds are still temporarily closed.  Bulahdelah Lions Park  This riverside park is NSW site 91 in CAMPS 11. It is currently a donation site,

Victory Park, Wilcannia NSW, is a winner

Trevor Ball sent in some photos and told us how impressed he was with Victory Park Caravan Park and the lovely caretakers in Wilcannia, NSW.  On arrival, he says you collect the ablution block key from caretaker’s letterbox and proceed to any vacant site, they do the rounds to collect fees. There are two new washing machines that are free to use.   Other travellers describe it as picturesque and peaceful – it’s right on the Darling River. Camp on the riverbank and the beautiful red river gums or choose a site with bush views.  Operated by council, they can accommodate pets

‘Border Bubble’ opens for some favourite treats

The Border Crossing, Boundary Street Now Queenslanders will be able to visit south of the border (and vice versa for many more New South Wales residents). Here’s a few places we recommend and would appreciate your support around the NSW/QLD border.  1. Bread Social You’ll find this newish cafe/bakery at Bay Street, Tweed Heads, NSW. It’s a great thing to return to, when I visit mum nearby. You just need to check out the photos below to see why. I am not one for custard – maybe the odd vanilla slice – but their Portuguese tarts are divine. I’m salivating
