Discover showground camping – good for facilities, space and the wallet!

Koorawatha Showgrounds, NSW at Sunset You asked for it, you get it! Brett Kempster wrote to us and suggested: “What about a feature on country town showgrounds providing low cost camping?  We stayed in a couple but our last trip…through NT, Qld and NSW really highlighted to us how brilliant an option they are. A few we stayed in on that trip: Adelaide River (NT) – even had a pool Mundubbera (Qld) – quiet hospitable town Moree (NSW) – RSL out the back gate Narrabri (NSW) – brilliant, quiet and near town I’m sure there are many others people can

Wow, Cunnamulla Hot Springs is excellent, and here’s our hot tips! It has six pools, all different temperatures and sunset views over the river, if you time it right. Plus a relaxation room, sauna and cafe. Top notch fun with my sister, we loved it – what an epic start to our ‘across the centre’ trip. At the end of the complex, you’ll see the most daunting pool of all! The 10 degree plunge pool – we both did it! I even made my head go under. This new attraction opened February this year. Visit Goomeri Pumpkin Festival, Queensland

Pumpkin Roll Competition Goomeri Pumpkin Festival is on May 24 to 26, 2024.  This is an event I have been wanting to visit for years! Melissa Haslam kindly shared her photos. Have you seen the pumpkins rolling? It is on the Sunday as is the street parade and traditional festival games and music. Friday has the Wine and Cheese Under the Stars. This region is a little known gem for wineries! We checked them out a few years back when we visited the Wondai Races, we stayed on the Bjelke-Petersen Dam at Yallakool Caravan Park. There is even a Pumpkin

We’re on the road again – with the mother-in-law!

We’re on the road again! Best of all, we’re travelling with my darling mum! (And sis and bro-in-law). Thankfully, mum adores her son-in-laws and vice versa. But there will be banter, and cards – crib, most likely. We’re travelling WEST! Last weekend we visited Dalby, St George and the new Cunnamulla Hot Springs. Today’s agenda is a mud bath (tell us if you’ve done one), more artesian baths, bush pubs and bush camps! Please say hello if you see us on the road. Remember to get 20% off CAMPS 12 and CAMPSPendium – just use SAVEMUM20 at our checkout. Love

GOLD WINNER: Charlotte Plains – a station stay at Cunnamulla, Queensland

Charlotte Plains is the stuff that bucket lists are made of!  We met the lovely Russell family – and the owner’s grandkids sold us firewood. No L plates needed out here! Congratulations to them all – this month they won gold for Best Grey Nomad Farm or Station Stay, Best Grey Nomad Tour silver award and bronze for Best Grey Nomad Attraction Award. It is no surprise to me! We loved our camp beside the hot artesian waters – “taking the waters” was our first port of call. It was so warm! Busy when we were there, the old baths

ANZAC Day Memorial Park Goondiwindi
ACT

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them

Memorial Park Goondiwindi The Ode always brings a tear to my eye. ANZAC Day is a solemn reminder of all the lives lost and impacted by war. This year it also commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day in WWII and Army women serving overseas. As we travel Australia, we see war memorialised in avenues of trees, swimming pools, gates, arches, cenotaphs, crosses, gardens, hospitals – even roads and bridges. More often, we see cenotaphs, obelisks or a “digger” statue, like this one from Goondiwindi, Queensland. On April 25, Australians gather around them, to remember all who have fought for our

Welcome Dan and Nora! Congratulations to Dan and Nora Gleeson, new owners of Trinity Islands Holiday Park! Plus they are sharing it with all of us! “Dan and I travelled around Australia with the kids (now adults) navigating from the back seat with Camps 4. Mary and George would check what services were available at different sites in our Camps 4 Book, Dan would ask if the region’s industry seemed likely to have suitable work,” Nora said. Amazing Travelling Experiences They
