If you are exploring the East Coast on a budget you will be particularly eager to find a free place to stop over that has sufficient facilities. New South Wales is a fascinating state and not to be underestimated – with the Great Dividing Range and Pacific Ocean beaches, beautiful National Parks and the only location in Australia you’ll be Back of Bourke and see the Dog on the Tuckerbox!

Boy, have we seen some awesome free camps lately! Although we’ve based ourselves at Dinner Plain- we’ve had epic drives through the Victorian High Country. (You can check out the chalet here, there is room to park up a van out the front. But don’t take one up in winter!) One thing up here, free camps are plentiful. Giddy-up to these awesome camps and locations!

With only a week until Melbourne Cup, this newsletter is all about awesome camps and locations and horses! Starting with a ‘red tick’ camp at Newstead Racecourse. Located near Castlemaine, Victoria, it was only $10 per site per couple. It has EXCELLENT showers, BBQ shelter, large grounds, dump point AND ash pit.
