Darling River Run, south of Tilpa, NSW
Camping

All you need to know to camp on the Darling River Run 2 – Louth to Tilpa

Darling River Run, south of Tilpa, NSW Decisions really begin once you leave Bourke (and once the road dried up enough!) – do you follow the road west or east of for your Darling River Run? West takes you to Toorale National Park, a relatively new one, with an old history. Instead, we continued east. If you are short on time, I would make the most of the Station Stay camping rather than national parks here, to maximise those Darling views. Crossing the rivers at Louth and Tilpa we explore more stations and pubs. Our Darling River Run roadtrip continues

Camp, Hike and Crocs at Windjana Gorge on Western Australia’s Gibb River Road

The local ranger said Windjana Gorge has 162 freshwater crocodiles! If you are travelling the Gibb River Road it is the first national park from the west and last from east in the famed Kimberley region. Set in the Bandilngan Windjana Gorge National Park (so no dogs) there is a generator area and “quiet” area. We are very impressed – hot showers and flushing loos! Remember you may need to BYO loo paper. Windjana Gorge has two walks, both are best in the cool of the day – early morning or late afternoon: The Savannah Trail (Class 3) 1km loop

A must do: The Granite Skywalk, Castle Rock, Western Australia

This #graniteskywalk at Castle Rock near Albany Western Australia is a Definite MUST DO. This is absolutely the best image I have seen of this adventure. It really is as cool as it looks! Hands down, this was one of my (and the family’s) favourite walks in Australia. Granite Sky Walk, WA – Image Overland Exposure Challenging? Yes. Terrifying to look down? Well, a bit… Worth it? definitely! Overall you are looking at a 4.4 km return walk. National Parks say it is Class 5 and requires moderate to good fitness. Walk through yate, marri and karri forest, past the

Planning a big lap? Part 2 – from the Murray to The Kimberley

Headings Cliff Lookout, SA Berri, SA starts our exciting second stage of our big lap. We share tips for long haul trips and shorter getaways – even a giveaway! Now our mainstay, ten years back – our very first free camp at Mulga Well was a real adventure! And we found it in the CAMPS guide – CAMPS 7 back then. Onto a night underground in Coober Pedy, to travel up the Centre, and circuit the Top End. Then to one of my favourite places on Earth. The East Kimberley was supposed to be our end point, instead we

Shark Bay WA
Beaches & Coasts

Why visit Shark Bay, Western Australia?

Eagle Bluff Shark Bay World Heritage Area is situated on the Western Australian Coast, it is actually two bays – and it is area you do not want to miss. Situated north of Kalbarri, and south of Carnarvon on the beautiful WA coastline, all of these favourites are accessible with a conventional vehicle: Wild dolphins at Monkey Mia Monkey Mia, probably what we knew the area best for, before our visit. We wanted to check it out and compare it to our very own Tin Can Bay – also known for feeding wild dolphins. It is best to arrive early and

Fraser Island K'gari

Ten new listings on Fraser Island K’gari

Fraser Island K’gari In light of the royals Harry and Meghan’s visit to Fraser Island, we thought it was high time to add more campsites to the App and CAMPS 10. In addition to Cathedrals on Fraser listed in Caravan Parks 4, we now have four more campgrounds and six dump points listed! First thing to note – K’gari Fraser Island travel is only suited to high clearance, off road 4WDs only – there are soft sandy and rough tracks. Vehicle permits are required. Prebook trailer sites – they are limited, and if in holiday time, well ahead, Fraser can

Day Trips: Buderim Waterfall, Sunshine Coast, Queensland

We checked out beautiful Buderim Forest Park and Buderim Falls (Sunshine Coast, Qld) this morning.  I’ve always wanted to see it, as we dropped our youngest off at soccer we had an hour before the game. Off Quorn Place, there is the shorter circuit walk – with lots of steps and quite steep in places. We veered left and could hear people chattering and the water. There’s a lovely big bridge across which gives great views of the falls. If we had our togs and more time you’d wander down to the waterhole and cascades. Instead we kept in the
