What a site! Just a short walk from this free, pet-friendly campground at Leven Canyon Reserve is a lookout 275m above the river!
On arrival, we saw the day use area below the carpark – the elevated campground is quite sloped, but there were still flat locations to set up camp. I loved this camp spot with the silver wattle, looking over the valley of blue gum – this is the photo chosen for our brand new CAMPS 12 now available on pre-order…
There were a couple of RVs set up at the top of the hill.
Below that was a very cool building – the open fire BBQ and large shelter would be welcoming! We were there in summer and still wore puffers!
Toilets were onsite, and water was available.
Walks begin right at the campground – you couldn’t get any closer.
It is a fern thronged stroll – there is one track called the fern walk – some plants estimated to be aged 150 years!
You might spot some wildlife – like a Tasmanian devil or quoll, since it is part of the corridor from the coast to the Cradle Mountain.
Our friends took us on the Cruickshanks Lookout track. It is less taxing, and it was easy walking – suitable for any age. Little effort for a massive view with staggering heights!
We could see the lower Edge Lookout from the platform.
In fact, I’d love to come back as there are three walks under 45 minutes return as well as a 1.5 hour trek. You can do both lookouts in a 45 minute circuit.
