Here’s an update from CAMPS Ambassadors, Dale and Tracey from Adams Family Travels:
The Homestead Camp is located approximately 20 km from the barge landing. There are plenty of campsites here, including some suitable for groups.
Most people will spend their last night here before they leave the island as it is close to the barge and it can be an early departure time for some.
There are toilet and shower facilities as well as a camp kitchen. We enjoyed a coffee from the Inscription Bar & Cafe in the morning and a drink in the afternoon while watching the sunset. The bar area also has a fire pit. This area is also one of the only spots to get mobile phone reception.
Be sure to pick yourself up some Dirk Hartog Island merchandise while you are there. Included in this cost is free use of stand up paddle boards and kayaks.
Dirk Hartog Island is a national park, so no pet friendly campsites but glamping, fishing and swimming is available! Barge transfer fees apply.
The site features two camp kitchens available in Homestead Bay only 50 m from the ocean. When camping at Salty’s Homestead Campgrounds you have access to one of the camp kitchens which is a shared facility with other campers. Buddy’s Beach Camp gives you access to an exclusive private camp kitchen just for those that have booked that campsite.
Find this site and more in the new CAMPS Pendium, Camps 11 and Camps Australia Wide App. Remember there are POI’s for your satellite navigations, too!
