Immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Warroora Station Stay where the Outback meets the Ocean. This pristine part of Australia will have you longing to return time and time again. Warroora (pronounced Warra) is a cattle station with the stunning Ningaloo Reef Coastline as its western border. I’ll be straight, this site isn’t budget priced. There are no facilities, adults only – it is self contained RVs only. But you get to camp near alpacas and llamas, and it is super close to Canberra! I visited Alpaca Magic recently and met the owner Glynda (she tells me like the Good Witch of the North, spelling that is.) Knowing my musicals, I guessed she was talking about Wizard of Oz. You can spend a weekend or see it in a day trip – just bring an empty belly – there is good eating and good camping to be had. If you are looking for wide open spaces, and you are self contained, visit George and Rachael at Berringa Farmstay, Victoria. Camp within the pine trees with your own private fire pit – or closer to the house. Power and water are available for an extra fee. Pet friendly, there are only 5 sites across 5 acres, so it is very family friendly for bike riding and games. For animal lovers, look out for kookaburras, rosellas, magpies, black cockatoos and echidnas. Plus kids will love to meet the sheep, geese, chickens and ducks! And there are yabbies in the dam.
