Traveller’s update to Starview Primitive Campsite

My wife and I have just completed a 7500 Km round trip to Alice Springs and back, we went through Dubbo, Broken Hill and Port Augusta along the Stuart Highway to Alice Springs and back to Port Augusta, then the Princess Highway from Tailem Bend to Mount Gambier before heading back into Victoria doing the Silo Route and the Grampians, then the Sturt Highway, Newell Highway and the Hume Highway heading back home in Albion Park NSW.

We used the Camps 10 extensively throughout the trip and would like to make you aware that 1069 the Starview Campsite to be booked at the Broken Hill Information Centre comes with a cost of $32.00 for 2 persons consisting of $10.00 PP for the camp site and $6.00 PP for entry to the National Park so there should certainly be a $ sign in the description of 1069 which there is not.

We also used the Tailem Bend Football oval and Power is not available as shown these are the only 2 changes we think that should be made.

Then near Dunkeld we used 682 the Freshwater Lake reserve a very secluded spot in the bush but was very neglected, the Signs for the toilet were very confusing and is really not suited for big Rigs because of the overhanging trees.

Overall all the free sites we used were great and easy to find using the GPS coordinates including the Dump Points.

Kind Regards.

Thanks Bob and Lydia for these changes. The Starview Primitive Campsite has been updated in the Camps Australia Wide App to $. It still comes in at the budget rating, but we have noted that entry fee applies. You’ll see the changes to this site and Tailem Bend in the app soon, and updates pages on the website next month.

I am pleased to read you found so few changes to the book, and found it easy to use! Thank you for this feedback.
