Mount Taylor Forest Camp is located in Gippsland, Victoria. Caron Horton from Facebook Group ‘Tripping with Caz and Pete’ said we must add it to the CAMPS guide and App!
Caz said, “The drive here from Bairnsdale was glorious, with some very picturesque scenery.
I was a little bit concerned as we got closer to the camp as there was lots of smoke in the air, but at the moment it is just a controlled burn, albeit a bit close for my liking.”
“The camp is lovely – part of it is day use as there are a multitude of very good BMX tracks up here.”
In fact, Mt Taylor MTB trails have about 30 km of mountain bike trails suited to skilled riders. Their double black diamond downhill track is a “fast-paced technical trail through the forest with 300m of vertical descent, fast corners, big jumps and loose rocks”.
Caz recommends the camp area, and said it is: “A smaller area is set aside for camping, with picnic tables, fire pits, plenty of wood and toilets.” BYO drinking water.
You’ll find the campground about 15 km north of Bairnsdale.
