The Historic Weldborough Hotel has long been a favourite for campers, now with an added bonus – they recently switched from paid to free camping!
Originally built in 1876, the hotel and campground is nestled in the unspoilt majestic rainforest area of North East Tasmania at the bottom of the Blue Tier Mountain bike trails.
This picturesque hotel forms the heart of the town and the pretty campground offers unpowered, flat grassy sites, coin operated showers, and pet friendly camping. BBQ’s and firepits are available, picnic tables, shade and potable water. The pub has wonderful home cooked meals and is famous for their selection of ciders and Tasmanian beers.
The area is home to the Blue Derby Trails, for mountain bike riding and has become a popular place to stay. As well as camping they offer traditional pub style accommodation.
They regularly hold live entertainment and you can explore local walking tracks, visit Australia’s widest living tree, discover nearby attractions like Mt. Paris Dam and the Little Blue Lake or picnic at Little Plains Lookout.
The campgrounds are easy to find along the Tasman Highway on the tourist route between Scottsdale and St Helens. This one definitely ticks all the boxes. You’ll find this in Camps 10 Site #30 in Tasmania and on our Camps Australia Wide app.
