There are two new free camps to add to your travels in Western Australia, around 20 minutes east of Bunbury in the Dardanup Shire.Â
We’re happy to announce the re-opening of Burekup Hall (pronounced burra-cup) beside Gardiner Reserve. The site had been closed earlier this year by council, pending community consultation and feedback on its future.
It re-opened recently and recreational Vehicles can camp within the designated bays of the RV Parking Area for a maximum of 24 hours within any six (6) consecutive days. A limit of 3 vehicles are allowed – and now no permit is required.
There is a large flat area with toilets and drinking water available, shady, and pets on lead are welcome. Designated bays are clearly marked. There’s new bollards, new line marking and signage and you will no longer need a permit. There are meals at the local club on Fridays and it’s the perfect spot to check out all that Bunbury has to offer.

The other campsite is the Dardanup Hall about 13 km south of Burekup where a strip of land has been set aside for 3 vehicles. It is for overnight stays only but no permit is necessary here. There is also a toilet and drinking water available here and the camp is pet friendly. It’s adjacent to large paddocks with cattle and you’ll awake to the sound of birds in the morning. There’s a bakery close by for breakfast with delicious pastries and the Dardy pub nearby for lunch or dinner. Thanks to Michael and Maureen Lennon for these images.
