Have you visited this budget camping site? Theresa Creek Dam is near Clermont, Queensland.
What a great night we had here! Chatting to fishers who were hauling in red claw – his tip was use dog food for bait!Â
Only $15 for the three of us, toilets, showers, pet friendly, room for big rigs, too – fire pits, BBQs, playground, picnic tables – and views!Â
No bookings, just check into the kiosk on site – there’s lots of room. It’s about 22km from town.
If you are a land based anglers or a red claw hunter – you will love it!Â
With bitumen access all the way to the two boat ramps – makes for easy access for fishers.Â
As well as red claw crayfish, put your rod in for Barramundi, Golden Perch, Eel-Tailed Catfish, Sleepy Cod, Silver Perch and Bony Bream.
Permits for fishing are required. However, no permit is needed for Red Claw but limits apply.
Other water sports like canoeing, kayaking and water skiing are popular, too. Make sure you camp outside the day use area, so locals can still enjoy this scenic spot.Â
