Kangaroo Island South Australia – Upgrades Completed

Murray Lagoon Campground bbq shelter – Images Courtesy of The Department for Environment and Water Late last year we blogged about a host of upgrades that were under way on Kangaroo Island to re-invigorate the area following the devastating bush fires of the previous year. Those upgrades are now complete at some of Kangaroo Island’s most beautiful spots – D’Estrees Bay and Murray Lagoon – and it’s perfect timing for the school holidays.  Located in Cape Gantheaume Conservation Park on the south coast, these secluded spots will give visitors the opportunity to enjoy this peaceful wilderness. Budget and waterside camp: Second Creek Beach, Eyre Peninsula, South Australia

Our ambassadors Manda and Daniel thought this was a great small camp. There was only room for three or four sites. It is a flat site and there is a boat ramp (with 4WD access) and toilets, too! Payment is available onsite with an honesty box, but there are no bookings. You can swim, fish and bring your pet. There is a low ocean swell here because of the Islands of the Sir Joseph Banks Group, so no need to bring a surfboard! The camp is located south of Tumby Bay, on the eastern side of the beautiful Eyre Peninsula. What to see

But you are rewarded with priceless views and abundant fishing! Fishing is best here at high tide off the points, and in the inlet.
