5 reasons to visit Arckaringa station on our across the centre of Australia adventure

One of the prettiest spots we visited was Arckaringa station in South Australias outback.   Here is why we loved it and why we think you will too.

  1. Arckaringa station  is the closest campground and accommodation to the magnificent painted desert. Just the painted desert road is an amazing one to travel through.
  2. The views at the campground are beautiful. You are just looking out to the outback and I was pretty wrapped with what we could see. However at sunset I realised that the station campground also has views to the painted desert!
  3. You are just off the Oodnadatta Track, and Oodnadatta on one side then Coober Pedy on the other!
  4. The rustic accommodation, ablutions block, camp kitchen and even a book exchange are a welcoming bit of luxe if you’ve been mostly free camping like we have along the route.
  5. It’s pet friendly! The managers’ doggo greets you, and it’s a bonus to bring your own here.
