Central Gippsland Visitor Information Centre

Do you love food and wine? How about National Parks, Rail Trails and walking tracks?

Located just over two hours east of Melbourne, the Central Gippsland area is a must! Victoria’s greatest natural beauty, wineries, markets and adventure awaits you.

The diversity is astounding, from the reaches of the rugged high country to one of the longest beaches in the world. In fact, the region has all sorts of landscapes for you to explore:

  • Tarra Territory and rainforests
  • 90 Mile Beach
  • Gippsland Lakes
  • National Parks
  • townships of Sale, Maffra, Heyfield, Rosedale, Stratford and Yarram

To help navigate the beauty of this vast landscape, the Port of Sale has you covered with their brand new multi-million dollar facility. Located at 70 Foster Street, it is at the head of the Sale Canal. The old Wellington Visitor Centre has now moved into this new facility and renamed the Central Gippsland Visitor Information Centre.

The old Visitor Centre waste dump point has also been relocated to the corner of Grand Canal Road and Punt Lane, so it is only 350 metres south of the new site.

Not just a Visitor Centre, the site is also host to a brand new Art Gallery and public library in the main building. A new performing arts theatre, the Wedge, is located next door, as well as a new skate park behind the facility at Cullinan Park! From high culture to street culture, the new facilities have something to offer everyone.

Why not stop by and see all that the Central Gippsland area has to offer. You can check out the location on our Camps Australia Wide App.
