Maryborough is a town and region with excellent options for RV travellers. If you like being right in a city centre, then camp a night or two at The Alan and June Brown Car Park.
This RV park is for travellers with self contained vehicles only. Pets are allowed and it is 48 hours only. Toilets are across the street, as is more RV day parking. And it is well signed.
The fact that it is behind the police station, also gives travellers peace of mind.
Although this is simply a car park, and you are close to a road – we still love the central location.
What to see and do?
If you happen to stay on a Wednesday night, you can stroll to the nearby markets and pick up a morning coffee, your fruit and vegies and more. The Thursday Markets are an institution – and many travel far to stock up!
Also, it is also in walking distance to the RSL, which I can certainly vouch for – as have many other CAMPS travellers to this site!
Maryborough is on the Mary River, and on the Fraser Coast in South East Queensland. Overall, it is a beautiful town. With scenic drives amongst the old Queenslander homes, where you can picnic beside the river under stately trees or enjoy the old streetscape.
Additionally, the heritage precinct is especially well worth a visit. And if you love Mary Poppins, then you are in for a treat. As the birthplaces of author Pamela Travers – there are murals, statues and even a festival here.
I love The Brolga Theatre next to the beautiful Queens Park. All of this is in walking distance of this RV Park, named after an ex-Mayor and his wife, Alan and June Brown.
The town boasts other excellent budget sites: near the airfield at Doonvilla RV Park – Maryborough Showground on the north side and out of town the lovely council run Lake Lenthall.
