Road upgrades in New South Wales give more options for travellers

This particular road is some 82km in length, and once completed will provide grey nomads with some great alternatives in terms of (currently) ‘road less travelled’. Since April 2018, the road between Blayney and Crookwell via Tuena is now fully sealed. Broadly/generally

Take the back roads

We are just back from a 3,500 km road trip. We’ve driven from Queensland to the snow many times over the years, but each trip we love to travel via towns we haven’t seen before and roads not yet travelled. It’s good to mix it up a bit.

Keep designated RV parking for RVs!

To our dismay, we found the RV parking area FULL of cars, one motor home, no caravans. RVs had found some longer areas beside the river. Meanwhile, there were plenty of spaces in the regular carpark, closest the centre.

Walk through history at Moonta RV Overnight Stop

Overall view of the park with van – image G&J Gardiner Our roving CAMPS researchers, Judy and Graham Gardiner shared their stay at Kinto Park, Moonta.  Kinto Park is a large grassed shady area, right at the edge of Moonta, a lovely country town with historic buildings and pleasant parks.  Self-contained vehicles only. Showers and toilets are available a few blocks away.  Great place, but please note, it can get crowded and there is an Overflow Area across the road (please abide by the signs). It is for self-contained RVs, and please remember to give your donation for upkeep of this

Freedom Camp at Ginty’s Lookout

The Red Centre is internationally famous for good reason, with massive natural wonders like the Ayers Rock and the Olgas in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, the breathtaking sandstone escarpments of Kings Canyon and the contrasting extremes of the MacDonnell ranges high, dry peaks and the cool, fresh sanctuary of its low lying rock pools, this contrasting landscape has many treasures waiting for the avid explorer. The scale of this area cannot be understated, comparable in land mass to entire European countries like Albania or Slovenia, this part of the Red Centre is massive and requires serious planning. For most routes,

New caravan park near Perth

After an overhaul two years in the making, Queens Grove Caravan Village is a great find only 12 km from Perth. With very reasonable rates, the park is now host to multiple paved powered sites, and brand new amenities which are spotlessly clean. Much of the Village has new lawn, as well as disabled facilities, dump point and is pet-friendly. The flight-path above will keep the keen plane enthusiast entertained, with one traveller suggesting downloading a flight tracker app so you can see where the planes are going! The owner, John, has even more plans for the future of the
