There is a new caravan park in Newman, WA! Developed by the Shire of East Pilbara, the first stage has been completed and when the project has been finished, with over $3 million invested.
The first stage saw powered and unpowered sites available for tents, caravans and recreational vehicles – and it is pet friendly.
The Shire endorsed the name “Yurlu” which means ‘campground’ in Nyiyaparli. With the facility located on Nyiyaparli Country, Yurlu is an appropriate name and the Shire would like to thank and acknowledge Karlka Nyiyaparli Aboriginal Corporation for their assistance with this process.
Well-equipped with a laundry, kitchen and air conditioning in the communal lounge, travellers will enjoy the on-site facilities available:
- Toilets and showers
- Baby-change table
- Laundry room with washer/dryer combination and ironing station
- Full kitchen with fridge, sinks, microwaves, hot water boiler, kettle, toaster and water cooler
- Recreation building with TV and lounges
- Dump point
- Dog friendly – on lead only
- Generators not permitted
The Shire looks forward to many people enjoying their stay at this facility, which will continue to be constructed through a staged development over the next 2-3 years.
