Here’s one that ticks all the boxes, the Bucketts Way Camp n Stay, a brand new campsite just off the Pacific Highway north of Newcastle. This quiet bush setting is deceptive to say the least, unpowered camping but with all the trimmings. Three years in the making, friendly owners Brad and Carolyn created this beauty on 25 acres of natural bushland. It has huge private level campsites around around 10 x 20 metres per site, so no need to unhook and privacy galore. Despite being only 470 metres off the highway there’s no traffic noise amongst all the shady gums.

For a budget priced beach camp with million dollar views, travel to Red Cliff at Yuraygir National Park in northern New South Wales. Not only do you have the waves at your doorstep, the kangaroos love it, too! A popular surfing destination, it is only 5 km from Brooms Head and their “Bowlo” , known for yummy Chinese meals. The whole area is super family friendly, and a favourite for many! Yuraygir extends from south of Yamba, around the laid back villages of Wooli and Minnie Water (great fishing!) all the way to Red Rock. In fact, the Clarence Valley
Cockatoo Island Waterfront Campground We really loved our visit to one unusual camping destination: Cockatoo Island, Sydney, New South Wales. Where else can you camp beside Sydney Harbour and the Harbour Bridge views? And an old convict jail? There was even a cool art exhibition when we visited. Surrounded by lush gardens with sweeping views, Cockatoo Island’s waterfront campground let’s you relax under the stars, in the heart of the world’s best harbour. Visitors can park at Woolwich and take a short one-stop ferry to the island. Instead of your RV, choose from five options, catering for a range of
Well, we’ve had requests to share last month’s wonderful New South Wales getaway. A couple of places we stayed with friends on their farms – so have substituted AMAZING sites nearby. We also made the starting point as Brisbane. So here it is: DAY 1 Brisbane to Koreelah Creek Camp, NSW (no pets) – 108km Koreelah Creek Camp, NSW Take in Queensland’s Scenic Rim – we had a fantastic lunch at Harrisville’s Royal Hotel (a free camp), picked up fresh vege at Kalbar and drove past Lake Moogerah. (Extra night? Stop here at the caravan park or The Gorge near Aratula.)
Every site is waterfront at Platypus Flat, Nymboida-Binderay National Park, near Dorrigo Just one week of camping in north eastern New South Wales we checked out over 20 waterside campsites and many others! Add to that: 5 waterfalls, 8 national parks, 8 pubs and a following the mighty Clarence and Belliger, lulled to sleep on Nymboida’s rapids, with swims in the Gwydir and Bielsdown Rivers, plus Reedy and Never Never Creeks. Red ticks are the CAMPS seal of approval. It means: at the time they were visited, they were appealing, either because of the site’s position or vista or because facilities
We were just wowed by the Skywalk at Dorrigo National Park. Interesting to hear that planning is underway for the new Dorrigo Arc Rainforest Centre and 46 km Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk! Artistic rendition of the draft concept for the proposed new Dorrigo Arc Rainforest Centre – Credit DPE NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Area Manager Glenn Storrie said there has been huge interest from the community in the $56.4 million project so far. “The NPWS project team and I have shared the draft project concepts at more than 20 community and stakeholder briefings over the last 4
What a highlight! We just HAD to swim at this beautiful waterfall, so close to Dorrigo. You can camp right next to the reserve and lookout, at Dangar Falls Lodge. The walk down was excellent, with lots of boardwalks and steps… A beautiful waterfall, close to town, less than 20 min to walk with only 65 staircase steps. Highly recommend – one of our stops on The Waterfall Way If you would like order your own CAMPS Pendium, here is a special coupon code for you: PENDIUM20 …and you’ll receive $20 off!
