Here’s one that ticks all the boxes, the Bucketts Way Camp n Stay, a brand new campsite just off the Pacific Highway north of Newcastle. This quiet bush setting is deceptive to say the least, unpowered camping but with all the trimmings. Three years in the making, friendly owners Brad and Carolyn created this beauty on 25 acres of natural bushland. It has huge private level campsites around around 10 x 20 metres per site, so no need to unhook and privacy galore. Despite being only 470 metres off the highway there’s no traffic noise amongst all the shady gums.
Bremer Bay Beaches owner, David Harder invites you to Bremer Bay, the only place to see Orcas in the wild, in Australia. He says, “Our caravan park is closest to the departure point for Orca tours with Whale Watch Western Australia and Naturalist Charters.” The canyon tours run from January 1 to April. Then in winter, southern right and humpbacks arrive for land based whale watching. A short drive off the highway, between Esperance and Albany, “Beaches” sits at the gateway to the Point Henry Peninsula and the Indian Ocean. With easy access to Bremer Bay’s eight pristine beaches, Enjoy fishing, swimming, 4WD
We were just wowed by the Skywalk at Dorrigo National Park. Interesting to hear that planning is underway for the new Dorrigo Arc Rainforest Centre and 46 km Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk! When you drive to Wings Wildlife Park in Tasmania’s beautiful Gunns Plains make sure you stop at George Woodhouse lookout to soak up that gorgeous valley. It was near here we found an echidna beside the road – a live one, thankfully! So very cute, they stood very still and just peered at me. If you are an animal lover, or have some in your family – they will be in their element. The wildlife park has animal encounters galore – and personally guided tours. So touch an Aussie sugar glider, snake, or exotic meerkats or marmosets… Me? I’d

How beautiful is this? No wonder my mum rated the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise as her favourite day out on her recent Broome to Kakadu trip. As you cruise upstream, the East Alligator River divides the country, with Kakadu National Park on one side and Arnhem Land on the other. Step foot on Arnhem Land and check out the traditional hunting and gathering implements. And you can count crocs! Check out those views of this heritage listed land! What a beautiful part of the world – and not often seen when you visit Kakadu National Park. Mum especially loved how personal the tour was
Carl, Lyn and Jose Update August 2022 – Myella is currently closed to camping. This article was written for the GO WEST Stay with a Farmer Promotion after the droughts. Farms should be looking a bit greener these days, but our farmers still need our support! “When you come here, you are joining our family,” said Carl Hendrick. “We cook for you, we eat with you, and the bonus is we get a nice experience from you as well. “We offer farm experiences and horse riding. If there is no mustering we’ll go on a trail ride. We cater for
