Boasting three budget campgrounds and a caravan park, Arthur River is a must do! This tiny village has a population of about 25. Surrounded by the Arthur-Pieman Conservation Area and located on the Tarkine Drive this is a pristine area of Tasmania. As for wildlife, there are Bennett’s wallabies, Tasmanian pademelons and wombats. Tasmanian devils, brushtail possums and spotted-tailed quolls! Unfortunately, we only spotted the Tassie Devil signs. Before you get to Boonoo Boonoo National Park, you need to get the lingo right! It’s pronounced Bunna Boo Nu. Practice it, soon it will roll off the tongue. We are definitely coming back to this wonderful spot! You can camp under the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest granite rock! Sites at Bald Rock Campground have plenty of vegetation and privacy, we loved the granite surrounds. Bald Rock was neutral ground, trade route and a meeting place for three of the Aboriginal nations of the area: the Jukambal, Bundgalung and Kamilleroi. The campground would be a wonderful location for groups. There is a sheltered area, but each site had picnic tables – the site we stopped at had a huge one. The firepits were very functional with BBQ plates that rotated.

Cape Range National Park is a marine wonderland with a plethora of camps and caravan parks not far away. Newly listed, North Mandu is a small campground behind sand dunes, which gives some protection from strong wind. Walk fifty metres and you are at the beach, right on the Indian Ocean! Turtle Bay – Adams Family Travels Turtle Bay is approximately 88km from the Barge landing point on Dirk Hartog Island, WA. It is located at the northern end of the island and is a private campsite. It is an awesome spot to snorkel and also watch the passing marine life which includes dolphins, whales, turtles and sharks.
