We’ve had on authority from THE family who hike every chance they get – Mount Feathertop Hike, near Hotham, Victoria is one of Australia’s greatest!
At 1922m, Mount Feathertop is Victoria’s second highest peak. It is located just outside (2.5km towards Harrietville) from the Hotham Alpine Village, starting at Diamantina Hut.Â
Take the 22km, 7-8 hour Razorback Track, a high narrow ridge. You’ll find it is a difficult but rewarding Grade 4 walk.
Best times are summer to April, but be prepared – it can snow year round in Victoria’s High Country. Look out for wildflowers!Â
The peak is a real pyramid, it can be rough going and rocky close to the summit. Fitness is necessary to reach those 360 degree views.Â
