CAMPS Team Members: Jed and Tyla Elmer

Absolute gems, Jed and Tyla are the friendly voices you’ll hear when you call our office. We first met Tyla when she was working in reception at our doctor’s surgery. Back when they were a family of four, they kindly agreed to help us with a photo shoot and TV ad for another business. Not long after that we bought CAMPS and both Tyla and Jed started verifying sites. Their dedication and sense of detail meant they were first in our list when we expanded our team in 2019. They are both very active on their school’s P&C, and we

Camps Researchers on the Road: Leisa

Leisa has been with us since 2009, as our Technology and Marketing PA.  She handles the design and distribution of the Camps Newsletter that Heatley and I write for you each fortnight and she is also one of our teams’ web designers and created our current app website. Originally from Queensland, she decided to travel a few years ago, house sitting around Australia and continuing to work for us remotely. “Once when I was on the road, Heatley called me with some urgent work.  I found a place with internet signal, pulled up under a shady tree somewhere outside Gundagai,

A tribute to Kym Leech

The team at CAMPS send our sad farewell to Kym Leech, who passed away this month. He and his partner, Lyn Hutton, formed the ‘No Boundaries’ team. They had the enviable job of visiting and photographing campsites all over Australia – and helped us keep the book and app updated. The last time I chatted with Kym, they helped me write an article on their experiences working for CAMPS – Kym updated me on what he referred to as a “speed hump” that had him “semi-bolted to the driveway”. The “speed hump” was acute myeloid leukaemia. “Had we waited for
