Each September visitors from all over Australia gather in the tiny outback town of Birdsville for the Annual Birdsville Racing Carnival. The Carnival continues over two days so if you don’t want to miss it, timing is everything!
The Birdsville Races has a long history, beginning in 1882 as a small event with a few local spectators and expanding to an event known on a national and worldwide level. These days the Birdsville Races has a 13-race program with over $140, 000 of prize money and a highly sought after trophy.Â
Birdsville becomes abuzz with excitement each year as 6000 racegoers flock to the track for the high quality, adrenaline filled races. As well as enjoying two days of outback racing, visitors party into the evening with three nights of live entertainment.
