Have you visited Pinjarra, near Mandurah, only an hour south of Perth? And did you know Australia had another Murray River? Pinjarra RV Parking Area in Western Australia is a free camp and within walking distance of the town centre. You’ll find picnic tables, shade and the dump point is about 100 metres away. Additionally, it is pet friendly and there is room for Big Rigs.  There is space for 15 recreational vehicles, with a maximum stay of 24 hours only. An iconic stop we think belongs on any Aussie bucket list is the lesser known Porcupine Gorge near Hughenden in Queensland. We managed the road from Hughenden easily with our caravan – it is 75 km north of the town on a fully sealed road. There is a short cut to Prairie, via a dirt road. This is a special national park and the site is aptly names the Pyramid Campground. You’ll see why when you venture down the MANY steps into the canyon below. Must know tips before you hike to Boolimba Bluff, Carnarvon Gorge, Queensland

Boolimba Bluff is in the Carnarvon Gorge section of Carnarvon National Park half way between Emerald and Roma. The walk itself is a 6.4 km return to the steep slopes above Carnarvon Creek with views to distant ranges. Named the ‘Roof of Queensland’ these plateaus are the source of many of the state’s rivers. The Darling Downs in Queensland is THE place for sunflower drives. Sunflowers are a summer crop and only flower for 3-4 weeks. But you can find sunflowers from December to March and more on Darling Downs road trips.  For next season, pick your own at Warraba Sunflowers at Cambooya, Queensland. It is now closed. Tips: Please be respectful of farmers. Only go into properties if you have permission. Otherwise, take photos from the fence and enjoy that colour.
