We thoroughly recommend this lovely pub with friendly staff at Uki.
Arriving late (we lost an hour crossing the border into NSW), fortunately the pub was still open for meals. I snagged a table on the verandah, and sipped our cold drinks whilst we waited for lunch to arrive.
My niece said it was, ‘the best chicken schnitzel I had in a long time’. Real chicken breast – and the gravy is included. Likewise, our son loved his pizza, the rest of us ate the yummy schnitzels as well. I had our choice of two sides – for example: spuds, chips, salad or vegetables.
It is a really pleasant driving around this beautiful town, you are surrounded by the mountains. There are the Wollumbin (Mt Warning), Border Ranges, Nightcap and Mebbin National Parks. Clarrie Hall Dam is close by and most importantly on this very hot summery day, we found a beautiful spot for a dip, close to town. You can drive out from Murwillumbah like we did, or through the hinterland to the southern Tweed Coast.
There are other cafes nearby as well – I will certainly check those out next time!
Where to stay?
Mt Warning Rainforest Park (NSW site 365 in Caravan Parks 5) is on your way to Wollumbin National Park, and Misty Ridge Farmstay (NSW site 4 in CAMPS 10) is on Smith’s Creek Road west of town. Nearby Murwillumbah has their attractive Showgrounds (NSW site 2 in CAMPS 10) and Greenhills Caravan Park, which listed on the Camps Australia Wide App, as are all of our sites and dump points.
