Andamooka Caravan & Camping Ground, SA has a new name: Apoma Camping Ground, and it is now only $4 per person, per night. If electricity is required, it is $12 which covers the fee for up to 2 people. (Honesty box onsite.) Extra people are $4 each, showers included.
There are only 2 pillars with 4 connections each and there is a 9th connection on the outside wall of the ablution building. Lucky for us that we have a generator, as the last connection was taken just as we pulled in.
Also, the location of the source to obtain water is attached to a building adjacent to the dump point. The current fee for water is $0.50 for 10 litres.
Thanks to Michael Lennon for his update! You’ll find an open fire-pit, fresh water, waste pump-out, and an ablution block with hot showers, plus an undercover camp-kitchen/BBQ facility. For families there is a large undercover playground and skate park. It is walking distance to town and pet friendly.
Hint: If you plan on undertaking a quick trip perhaps to Coober Pedy via the Borefield Road, or maybe to William Creek, did you know that you can leave your caravan overnight at the Caravan & Camping Ground and save the extra time and cost of taking it with you. This can be a good option after rains or if the road is a bit rough.
