No reopening date has been released as yet by the Djiru Traditional Owners for Bingil Bay Campground. Situated near Mission Beach in north Queensland, new management has just been announced.
Cassowary Coast Regional Council advised the temporary closure allow essential maintenance updates. Meanwhile, the campground transitions to new management from May 2023.
During the transition, site improvements will occur to the beachfront campgrounds. Interestingly, the camp accommodates eight unpowered camp sites, a shower block and BBQ amenities.
Described by CAMPS travellers as “heaven” , “glorious” and a “hidden gem” – you’ll want to arrive early. This pet friendly camp has limited space and is only for tents and smaller RVs. However, as it is right on the beach, it is very popular, and so is the nearby Bingil Bay cafe.
In fact, Bingil is believed to be an Aboriginal word meaning a good camping ground. In addition, the area has Australia’s first commercial tea plantation.
New management look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors to the Bingil Bay Campgrounds. Finally, council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
