NEW listing – North Mandu, Cape Range National Park, Western Australia

Cape Range National Park is a marine wonderland with a plethora of camps and caravan parks not far away.

Newly listed, North Mandu is a small campground behind sand dunes, which gives some protection from strong wind.

Walk fifty metres and you are at the beach, right on the Indian Ocean! It is a peaceful spot to relax, swim and snorkel.

Facilities include a basic toilet facility only. There are no fires, generators or pets permitted. However, the spot is accessible by two wheel drive.

Cape Range National Park borders Ningaloo Marine Park and Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area. You’ll discover limestone ranges and arid coastal plains, canyons and drive trails in this part of the Coral Coast. Guided boat tours are available for Yardie Creek.

Walking tracks include: Mangrove Bay, Yardie Nature Trail , Mandu Mandu gorge and Charles Knife Canyon.

Look out for kangaroos, black flanked rock wallabies, echidnas, turtles, emus and other birds. May to October you can whale watch, too!

This remote spot is north of Ningaloo and Coral Bay, 66 km S of Exmouth via Murat & Yardie Ck Rd. There are limited sites, so do book ahead.

We list more Cape Range National Park campsites in CAMPS Pendium and CAMPS 11 books. You’ll also find these, North Mandu and Bungarra Campground (temporarily closed) in the CAMPS AUSTRALIA WIDE App.

You can also camp at Yardie Homestead Caravan Park and caravan parks in Exmouth. Ningaloo Lighthouse Holiday Park is currently closed for redevelopment, planning new caravan park sites, eco tents and villas.

Note from National Parks: The access road through the western side of the park is sealed until Yardie Creek, with two-wheel-drive access to camp and day use sites. The eastern side is four drive wheel drive access only.

Access to Ningaloo (Nyinggulu Coastal Reserves) from Cape Range National Park requires crossing Yardie Creek. Here the soft, shifting sand can make crossing difficult. The creek is also subject to seasonal and tidal flooding.

A big thanks to Jennifer Cumming for her beautiful images!
