Kerrie and Brian have opened up their 17 acre property at Buxton, near Childers for camping. It is half way between Bundaberg and Hervey Bay, Queensland with 8 dedicated camping areas set amongst natural bushland.
Brian said, “The camp sites are all flat, fully grassed and well maintained. Each campsite has its own fire pit and an initial supply of firewood (plenty more available in the ‘bush’ areas). The campsites are only suitable for fully self contained motorhomes, RVs and Caravans as there is no power, water or shower toilet facilities on site (as yet).”
The couple live on site and hope the camping will cover the cost of mower fuel and site maintenance. Brian said, “If we do make a profit it will be spent on improving facilities. Prices will remain the same for all long weekends, school holidays, Christmas/New Year and Easter.”
Fees are $10 a night for 1 guest, $20 a night for 2 guests and $30 a night for 3 to 6 guests.
“At least here you can be safe and secure and will feel comfortable leaving your motorhome, RV or Caravan while you explore the area. You will also have no one else camped right on top of you and you are not camping on dirt, sand or gravel,” said Brian.
The campground is pet friendly, dogs can be ‘off leash’ if they are with you and under your control. Generators are allowed.
