Free camping is for movie nights only – you simply pay admission (that’s $14 for two movies for adults, $12 for students/concession and children aged 4-12 is $8). Entry is for 2 adults minimum.
Gates open at 6.30pm and the first movie starts at 7.30pm. Screenings are mostly Friday and Saturday nights.
Traveller Michael Lennon advised us, “The gates to the drive-in are not locked and so you can arrive throughout the afternoon on the 2 days per week on which movies are shown.”
“We parked side on behind the rear row of speaker poles and so watched the movies in the comfort of the caravan. The soundtrack for the movies comes through on 96FM.
“As the second movie wasn’t going to finish until 11.45pm we sat in our PJs ready for bed – it reminded us of when we took our children to the drive-in, in their PJs in the 1970s. Also, as we didn’t have to leave until the next morning the driver, namely me was able to have a few reds while watching the movies.”
The site is also dog friendly, but ask that dogs remain on leads and they are cleaned up after. There’s toilets, 12 hour maximum stay, it is suitable for big rigs and all styles of camping.
“The morning after we stayed, there were 4 caravans and 8 other camping vehicles of various styles,” said Michael. “It was a novel experience.”
