There’s been plenty happening across campsites and caravan parks around Australia lately — from name changes and new owners to upgrades, closures and everything in between. We’ve rounded up the latest updates to help you stay in the loop and plan your next trip with confidence.

Name Changes

WA – Augusta
Munday Campground has had a name change and is now known as Augusta Trackside Campground.

• VIC – Grampians
The Great Western Racing & Rec in the Grampians have changed both their name and their contact page to Great Western Campground to reflect its focus on camping and facilities.  
Other than the name change, you can still book powered & unpowered sites all year round. There’s caretakers, toilets & coin-operated showers. See the App for details.

New Owners

Goomburra Valley Campground in Queensland has new owners — and a fresh new look to match! Now rebranded as Goomburra Getaway, there’s plenty happening behind the scenes.  A brand new booking system is already up and running (and don’t worry — all existing bookings remain secure), with a new website and more updates on the way. Stay tuned… we’ll share more as soon as we know!

Brother and sister duo Stacy & Kristal have taken over the iconic Tilpa Hotel.  A must stop on the Darling River Run. We camped across the road for free. The meals were so good we came back, and those Western sunsets from out the front were swoon worthy.

Pialba Beachfront Tourist Park in Hervey Bay has been busy making upgrades — and there’s good news for pet lovers! Pet-friendly paw prints icon indicating dog-friendly campingThe park is now pet friendly, with dog-friendly options plus new guest facilities including a barbecue area, modern camp kitchen, new amenities and larger powered sites. Did you know there’s a water park next door?

The camping area at Albury Showground NSW has had a full revamp — and it’s looking fantastic! Campers can now enjoy brand new amenities and a new laundry, along with a dump point, upgraded power and drainage, fresh paths, grassed areas and a new concrete driveway. Larry dropped in for what was meant to be a four-night stay… and never left. He’s now the full-time caretaker!

This oval west of Casino now has powered sites @ $15 per night, unpowered $10. You camp behind the pub, there’s hot showers & toilets and doggos on leash permitted. Thanks to Kim Hart for this update … Fees are payable to the caretaker, you may stay up to 7 nights, the water on site is tank water. Please camp on the grassed sections as gravelled sections are internal roads and no camping west of the site buildings nor on the oval. 

New Facilities, SA

Wallaroo Overnight, SA has a brand new RV Dump Point that is now open and ready to use.  The new dump point is located on Cornish Terrace, Wallaroo.  The previous DP just past the Mobil when entering town has recently been decommissioned, so be sure to head to the new location instead. The Kergunyah Streamside Reserve Victoria which we previously had as a Day Use only is now dual purpose. Still as Day Use for picnic goers, but also camping on the Crown land portion. The Parndana Hotel on Kangaroo Island has reopened for camping after a temporary closure.  There are limited powered sites currently at $35 per night.

The Gippsland Motor Museum in Maffra VIC is temporarily closed for urgent roof repairs. So they are going to hit the pause button on camping for a while. The good news is they will be back open in July and also with a new display.

• Paddys Ranges, VIC
Karri Track camping area in Paddys Ranges State Park, Victoria is temporarily closed for upgrades, new toilet building, communal shelter and landscaping. However the nearby Settling Ponds Picnic Area is still open for day visits with toilets available there.

• Bongaree, QLD
The Bongaree Caravan Park on Bribie Island, Queensland is closed to bookings due to water infrastructure work but they are hoping to reopen on April 2nd.

• Laverton, WA
Laverton Caravan Park remains closed and is not expected to reopen until after Christmas of 2026.

Winton Hotel in Queensland has been sold and while the pub is still open the camping has now ceased, so close this one in your books …

• Bundaberg, QLD
The Hinklers Lions Park is closed to campers now but the dump point is still available from 5.30am to 6.30 pm

• Kanyapella, VIC
Falcon Hotel in Victoria is up for sale and so camping has closed.  We have no further information on this one, so let us know if you hear that camping has reopened.  

Condolences

Sunvalley Retreat, NSW – We received the sad news that Ted the owner of the Sunvalley Nudist Retreat in Minto, NSW has passed away and the camp is now permanently closed.
