As a caravan park, Ayers Rock Resort at Yulara, NT has all you need. It is pet friendly, has room for Big Rigs, amenities, laundry, camp kitchen, playground, pool and shade of the desert oaks.
We loved the hill – where you see “The Rock“, and can toast the excitement of being so close to Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
It is pricey, but this is the only option so close to Uluru for camping, and you do want to book in advance. You do have access to the resort restaurants and bars, shops, galleries, information centre and petrol station. Note: no takeaway alcohol is available for purchase.
Make sure you visit the IGA. It was heavenly to taste fresh bread and french sticks again!
There are also free daily activities like guided garden walks and Indigenous bush yarns – and a free shuttle bus. It’s a huge place! There’s even a volleyball court – but you’ll spend most of your time trekking in the National Park.
It is 20 km to Uluru (Ayers Rock), so very close to exploring it and Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). The family astro tour and Sounds of Silence dinner both sound amazing.
And it is pretty cool to be in a desert, too!
