Wow, what an amazing spot in Coles Bay, Freycinet National Park!
Bec from Look The World In The Eye has been travelling Australia for six months when they came across this beauty in Tasmania. They said, “Unbeatable position! This is one of the nicest spots we’ve camped!”
“$13 for unpowered ‘tent’ sites (not all suitable to sleep in a car as some car parks sloped – we were in site #30 which was great for our van) or $16 for power and water (all powered sites suitable for caravans).”
This site is Richardsons Beach, just outside Coles Bay – beside Ranger Creek and just 17 km south of Bicheno on the Tasmanian east coast. A perfect spot to explore Freycinet National Park’s wonders like the walk to Wineglass Bay.
There are three main areas:
Powered sites (1-18)
Richardsons Beach Camp (pictured) is close to the visitor centre, with accessible toilets.
Choose from hardened powered sites which fit small caravans and campervans (18 feet maximum). There is water, a dump point, and coin hot shower in the amenities block.
Sand dune sites (19-45)
These are limited in winter and are tent only camping – close to flushing toilets, cold showers and water.
Honeymoon Bay sites (46-52)
More tent only camping nodes on a granite knoll – and metres from the ocean. Only open in summer and Easter, there is non potable water, picnic tables and BBQs but it is a walk to the toilets.
