Riverbank bliss at Tenbury Hunter Reserve, South Australia

Don’t pay the ferryman here. Camp right on the Murray River with water and cliff views plus a free ferry. This 24-hour service, provided by the SA Government, takes you across to the river port of Swan Reach, below Murray River Lock #1.

As one of the reviews on our App says, “no fees and a proper toilet” – what more could you wish for, really?

It also boasts fireplaces, mobile phone coverage, dump point and shade. Suitable for big rigs and pets

There is a 5-night limit and you are advised to get in early, it is popular!

Hop back on the ferry for the café, hotel, op shop, general store, bakery and museum – you will find some free WiFi locations, too.

Whilst there, go see the Big Bend Cliffs, the tallest on the Murray, local caves and conservation park.

To find this camp area at Swan Reach, take the ferry north across to the western side of the river. The bush camping is 500m east of the ferry crossing, on the river bank.

This is SA site 192 in CAMPS 10 or if you have our CAMPS AUSTRALIA WIDE App as well – simply go to the map or list and search with the site name!
