Just a heads up for all campers! The Crocodile Caravan Park at Lightning Ridge, NSW is now being managed by the Lighting Ridge Bowls Club Committee. The updated contact details with phone, email and website are live in the Camps App.
All check-ins are now to be made at the Wallangulla Motel, 22 Morilla St, Lighting Ridge. The new park manager, Carol, is an absolute gem and is especially looking forward to your next stay.

Here’s a pic from our visit there this year…
BOWLING CLUB
If you are staying here, it is an easy walk to the club. We enjoyed our Bowlo schnitties! They were massive. They only admit members, but you receive the membership back towards meals and discounts.
I also loved checking out the John Murray artworks.
GALLERY
In particular, the John Murray Art Gallery is a MUST SEE in Lightning Ridge. Additionally, you can see other murals of his around town. He also created Stanley the Emu – one of my favourite BIG THINGS of Australia.
MARKETS
And as we drove into town, the Sunday markets were all set up – it is unquestionably a bonus that they are just across the road from the Crocodile Caravan Park. Not only could we check out the opals, but there were plenty of other bargains.
I found some little vintage wine glasses for the van, and yes, they lasted the trip! They are from 7am- noon, March to November. The brekky burgers were a sight to behold! I think they come with everything!
NETTLETON’S LOOKOUT
I’m glad we took the tip to visit the Green Car Door Tour and this location close to sunset. As well as amazing views, you’ll find the bottle house, stone labyrinth and you can check out the first shaft!
BORE BATHS
But best of all, I loved my hot mineral spa bath. Bore baths are one of my favourite stops as we travel! And it is free.
CHAMBERS OF THE BLACK HAND
So unique it is a must see. Plus it is a lot cooler down in this mine and gallery of interesting carvings!
WHERE TO CAMP
As well as caravan parks, we also list station stays around Lightning Ridge. In particular, we loved the “Pub in the Scrub” stays out at Grawin. Find them all in the CAMPS guides and new CAMPS App.
