If you are looking for a quick getaway, a nature adventure, or a bush retreat but not too far away from civilisation; new site, Jimna Bush Camp is for you!
Only one and a half hours from Brisbane, retreat to the small, quiet Australian town of Jimna, where a gem of a site awaits you. Pete and Marianne have owned the property since 2019, and are keen to share it with travellers for very reasonable rates.
Jimna Base Camp is set upon the old State School land (which closed in 2009), and therefore has utilised the old facilities such as tennis/basketball courts, oval and cricket pitch, toilets and hot showers, children’s playground and sandpit, to name a few.
Campers with all types of vehicles can choose a site under the shade of the trees around the oval, or anywhere else on the 2-3 acres of flat, grassy land available. The property is fenced for security, has a camp kitchen with access to electricity for charging devices, and offers fire pits for your use (except in fire ban). Sites are unpowered, but generators are allowed within reasonable times.
Jimna itself is a small old timber town, which lies in the mountains of the Jimna State Forest and the Conondale National Park in South East Queensland. There are many, many walking, bike, and 4WD trails to explore, some of which Pete can advise you on, which will lead you to some spectacular views and treasures to behold. Such as, ancient gorges, waterfalls, old mills and goldmines, Jimna Fire Tower – the tallest three-pronged timber fire tower in the Southern Hemisphere! And even if you don’t feel like exploring, simply enjoy some fishing in the creek, maybe even take a dip, or just relax in the tranquil bush surrounds.
