There are five ways to locate a site –

Search – Use the search bar, which is located at the top of the Explore Tab. If you know the name of a site, simply type the name into the search bar. Tap on the site name in the search results to view a summary of the site information, tap again to view the detailed listing information.

If you don’t know the name of the site or want to search for a more general area, type in the name of the City, Town or Suburb into the search field. Relevant city, town, and suburb results will then appear in the drop down search results. Cities, towns and suburbs are identified with a Red Pin Marker in the search results. Tap to select the city/town/suburb which you are interested in and the map will open at that selected area.

Ai Search – To the right side of the main search bar, you will see a small icon with 3 little stars. Tapping this will open the Ai search function. Here you can type or user voice controls to search for Camp sites in plain english terms. The Ai will show results based on your requested search terms and offer a list of results to match. The Ai will offer a pool of results based on your search terms, tap view results to see the related sites. You can then tap view on map, to see the sites location, or tap view details to show the expanded site listing information. You can then refine your search terms further to improve results if required.

Filter – Below the Search bar on the Explore Tab, you will see a filters button. Tapping this will open the Filters menu options. Here you can select filters based on different categories. The filter menu will open to the Primary filter options first, these are core services and facilities, there is a second tab for Advanced filters, which focuses on supplementary requirements for campers. The Primary filters allow you to select Distance, Site Type, State, Price, Pet and Vehicle suitability. We recommend keeping your filters as simple as possible, only selecting the core requirements for your travels, then refining further if required. 

It is advised to first select just a vehicle suitability and pet status requirements only. Many times user will set too many filters and restrict the available options within the app. As you apply filters you will see the “show results” button at the bottom of the page adjust the total amount of sites available based on your filter results. Please monitor how the totals adjust as you apply your filters to ensure you are not blocking results from displaying in your searches.

Map – Using the Explore Tab, pinch to zoom into the area you want to search and tap the site icons to view the details .

List View – Below the main search bar, you will see a toggle switch to the left side that allows you to switch to list view. This will sort sites based on distance from your current location as standard, but you can also modify the sort options at the top left of the menu to sort by Distance, Name or price, in ascending or descending order as required.

Once you have viewed the site listing, to close the site tap the X in the top left corner to return to the map view.

There are 2 reasons this may occur;

Firstly you may be viewing a remote location on the map where there are simply no sites currently available or where we have been unable to verify a site.

Secondly, you may have filters selected that are hiding sites. See the “How do I use the filters?” tutorial to learn how to turn filters on and off. The more filter options you apply, the more specific your search will be, and if no sites or limited sites match your specific set of filter criteria then this is all that is presented to you.

By removing some or all or your filter selections then you should start to see sites reappear on the map. It is advised to keep your filter settings as simple as possible to avoid eliminating sites from your results.

If you believe a site is located in a certain location and we are not showing it on the map then please alert us to this. You can “Suggest a New Site” inside the app via the Account Menu page or you can suggest a new site here on the website.

The Camps App is not a GPS.

Only a GPS App or GPS navigation system has that function.

All the sites in the Camps App use either Google/Apple or Web Based Maps (while connected to cellular service) to direct them with turn by turn instructions to the sites.

Once ‘cellular‘ service is lost the Google/Apple/Web Based Maps will no longer operate and you should switch to Offline Mode to be able to navigate via map.

Please note  Camps Australia Wide no longer supports in Car Navigation systems as of Camps 13, Caravan Park 7 or Campspendium 2 editions.

The numbers quoted in the printed guides are not used by the App for navigation.

The book’s site numbers are related to each state and also for the Camps budget sites as well as the Caravan Parks sites, it would be very confusing to have 7 x Site No 132 in the app. Also many book owners will keep older editions as their “bible” for several years and the use of site numbers would cause confusion for all users.

Instead you can search sites recommended by the Camps or Caravan Parks guidebooks, by the name of the site listed, or go to the map in the App and check out the locality.
