Today we’re giving a shout-out to a mate – and someone our little dog Roxy absolutely adored. Marianne Sellick has cared for Roxy through many of our caravanning trips. She loves dogs so much she’s now written a children’s story inspired by life on the road.
We first met Marianne in Rainbow Beach after she’d spent months working remotely on the Dampier Peninsula, running a resort mostly on her own. She’s an avid motorhome traveller, a keen golfer and an absolute dynamo who always manages to find fun in each day.
Marianne told us, “I was inspired to write while RV travelling and working around Australia with my dog, Posh, her doggie friend, Molly, and her parents. Watching the two dogs play together brought the whole family endless laughter and joy!”
That joy has spilled into her first children’s picture book, My Bottom Just Coughed, where a smelly surprise sets off a hilarious round of blame-shifting. Marianne describes it as “a cheeky, giggle-filled story that will have kids and parents laughing out loud!”
Here’s a photo of Marianne reading to the star of the new book, Molly.
Just like Molly and Posh, those two had the best time together on the beach! Roxy was always excited to hang out with Marianne, Kooks and favourites, Denise and “Pa”.
It’s lovely seeing a fellow traveller turn real road-life moments into something that’ll make kids smile. Pick up the book here.
As well as photos of Roxy and Kooks, here’s the real Molly and Posh on their adventures around Australia. Thanks to Marianne for the photos.
If you’re travelling with your much loved dogs you’ll find plenty of pet friendly campsites in our new Camps 13, CAMPSPendium, other guides and Camps App.
