The team at CAMPS send our sad farewell to Kym Leech, who passed away this month. He and his partner, Lyn Hutton, formed the ‘No Boundaries’ team. We attended a consultation for the draft RV strategy for our region, and followed it up with a country drive into the Mary Valley – checking on sites. Our feedback to council was to provide a greater number of RV camps across the region – they don’t need to include facilities plus! Rather than having huge dollars spent on one location – like plans for the Valley Rattler Terminal RV stop, we encouraged them to set up and publicise smaller sites, region wide. Draft RV Strategy released for public comment

The draft Recreational Vehicle Strategy is now open. After collecting over 500 responses from Gympie locals, visitors, businesses, industry and government representatives, the draft Gympie Recreational Vehicle (RV) Strategy is ready for public feedback. In a series of surveys and interviews in late 2018, respondents were asked questions about the needs of RV tourists how to attract and encourage tourists to stay in the region, and existing and potential opportunities for RV tourism.
