Free lakeside relaxation at Boynedale Bush Camp, Queensland

We love the Boynedale Bush Camp for the views over Lake Awonga! This is a wildlife sanctuary, so pets are discouraged. Small dogs may be allowed on leads.

There are drop toilets, picnic tables and fireplaces, with mobile phone coverage, a boat ramp and it is suitable for big rigs. Access best in dry weather only, as roads are unsealed.

The large flat camping area has a lookout nearby, so you can take in the lake and Castletower National Park.

You can camp for up to seven days within a thirty-day period.

Please note that there is no electricity supply, rubbish bins or potable water available, so campers must provide their own water. Note also that the bush camp is operated as a sustainable campsite i.e. campers are encouraged to leave their camp site tidy and any waste is to be removed and disposed of at an approved facility.

You’ll find this spot at Boynedale, 31 km south of Calliope. Travel 2 km east of Gladstone-Monto Rd, beside the dam.
