We were delighted to find Tully Memorial Park. It is a riverside freedom camp we discovered on our way back from Springbrook National Park recently.
Update your books with the correct GPS: 27°47’00.0″S 153°00’38.0″E – on the west side of Mt Lindesay Highway, not the east.
Beryl Parade is closed from Highway access. Instead drive just north of the park, and turn west into Greenbank Road at the traffic lights. Turn a sharp left into Beryl Parade, and follow it, past the overflow area.
This area has been set up for self contained vehicles to stay up to three days, for free. It houses all types of RVs up to Big Rigs – tent camping is not allowed.
Although you can’t really see Logan River from the park – do check out the historic flood markers. The flood levels from different years are marked on old timber beams. At night the flood level lines light up – with the record held in 1887.
It is a huge area – the grassy park has beautiful Norfolk pines and other trees, and would be a lovely spot to stop – even though it is close to the highway.
Pets are allowed, the toilets are suitable for people with disabilities plus you’ll find mobile phone coverage, BBQ, picnic table shade and views.
Convenient to Logan Village, Beenleigh, Mt Tamborine, the Scenic Rim, Brisbane and the Gold Coast – make sure you leave no trace when you visit.
