The Savannah Way’s newest camping and caravan experience, Talaroo Hot Springs, is expected to open next month. Nestled on the Einasleigh River in North Queensland, and owned by traditional owners, the Ewamian people, Talaroo is a 31,500 hectare property with significant natural and cultural sites including the hot springs.

Planned for this stunning outback setting, are 16 powered caravan sites, 14 camping sites, camp kitchen and facilities. There will be guided tours of the springs, a yarning circle, bathing pool and private soaking pools. Site costs per night are $40 powered and $32 unpowered per site for 2 people; extra adults $15 and children $8; family rates $54 powered and $44 unpowered.

You can immerse yourself in the unique environment and cultural experiences as well as bathe in the healing waters of the only mounded hot springs of its kind in Australia. Located between Mount Surprise and Georgetown about a four and a half hour drive from Cairns and five and a half hours from Townsville. Future plans including glamping tents and self contained cabins as well.

We’ll have more information as it comes to hand on this unique outback destination designed to give visitors insight into Aboriginal ways of seeing, and experience Aboriginal hospitality. Put this one in your list of ‘to do’ and we’ll keep you posted as soon as it opens for bookings.
