Day 5 for my field trip across QLD,NSW into VIC. An early start today , leaving Menindee Lakes at 0645.
There are some great camping spots in this area, there is the National Park ‘Kinchega’ which has 3 camping area’s , there is free camping at Pamamaroo and at the weir, plus there are 3 caravan parks if you want power and a bit of green grass, and for the more adventurous, there are 3 Station Stays in the area if you want to experience an real outback station. (all of these can be found either is Camps 7 or Caravan Parks Australia Wide 3) . There is plenty of history in the area. First discovered in 1835 by Major Mitchell it was first called Laidley’s Pond, it later became a major depot for later explorers and was known as the ‘last outpost of civilisation’ for explorers heading into the interior. Safe and happy travels Philip
