New sites for Port MacDonnell, South Australia

Eight Mile Creek & Birdhide – images courtesy District of Grant Council The Grant District council in SA have changed a day use only in the Port MacDonnell area to camping for self contained vehicles, as well as an extra bonus … The Day Use at Eight Mile Creek is now 72 hour free camping for self contained vehicles. There are now two sites here on either side of the inlet, the other is called Birdhide and is also 72 hours. Tasmania has so many romantic locations! We loved our walk to Liffey Falls, with a pretty free camp, a donation camp nearby and a new farmstay in the area! Firstly, I have to say on our drive to Liffey Falls in the Great Western Tiers, you come across the BEST views like the one above… Liffey Falls includes not just one waterfall – but four: Alexandra Falls, Hopetoun Falls, Albert Falls and Victoria Falls (known as “Liffey Falls”). We took the shorter walk from the top carpark (a day use area only). There’s shelters, information boards, picnic and barbecue facilities at the carpark. https://youtu.be/Isc7dQdEFSM

What a night, and I slept like a baby in the van. Check out the photos on our socials! As well as a wonderful camping spot amongst carpets of Western Australia wildflowers, during the season, the Old Canna Camp Site has sad history, and was send in by CAMPS Traveller, Michael Lennon. He said, “After the trenches in France during World War I this old soldier probably thought that this was a palace.
