New arc treetop walkway planned for Dorrigo, New South Wales

We were just wowed by the Skywalk at Dorrigo National Park. Interesting to hear that planning is underway for the new Dorrigo Arc Rainforest Centre and 46 km Dorrigo Escarpment Great Walk! Artistic rendition of the draft concept for the proposed new Dorrigo Arc Rainforest Centre – Credit DPE NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Area Manager Glenn Storrie said there has been huge interest from the community in the $56.4 million project so far. “The NPWS project team and I have shared the draft project concepts at more than 20 community and stakeholder briefings over the last 4

Stop into the Warrumbungle Visitor Centre, New South Wales

The Warrumbungle National Park Visitor Information Centre is a beauty! We love info centres for all they deliver on suggestions for what to see and do – but this is why we think this one is a must see if you are visiting the park: Displays are interactive – you really do learn more by doing. It was no chore for our kids to bring me back facts here. Displays encourage touch – the fun facts and moving parts kept our crew occupied. The views – you can look right out to volcanic remnants that the park is known for

10 things to do and see in Tin Can Bay, Queensland

The small fishing and tourist town of Tin Can Bay is on the Cooloola Coast of the Gympie Region, between the Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast in Queensland. Here’s what we recommend you do and see whilst you are there: Feed wild dolphins The absolute drawcard for Tin Can Bay is its wild dolphins. They come in and feed most mornings and for a few dollars per person you can watch them, and a few more you can feed them a fish yourself! Unlike Monkey Mia where a few people in a huge group are selected to feed their dolphins, everyone

Aussie MUST DO: Taronga Western Plains Zoo at Dubbo, New South Wales

Did you know you can camp at Taronga Western Plains Zoo? Heatley’s mum and sister had the best time there last week! They said:    “5 hrs at the zoo. Fabulous day. Nyla the king cheetah, the giraffes and the Siamang apes were so engaging and our favourites…”   You’ll find it in Dubbo, New South Wales. It’s an interesting town to explore – but even better knowing you can see the lions and giraffes. If you are driving near Dubbo with the kids, add African animals to your spotto list!    I wonder if you’ve been here, too? Here are photos from

Coopernook Hotel, NSW
Budget Campsite

A funny thing happened on the way to the Coopernook Hotel…

We’d ordered our lunch, found a table out the front of the pub with fabulous water views, and wandered over to the jetty for a look-see. On the opposite bank, a tinny was backed up to the edge, and plonked in the water. I thought the two fellows were off for a fish. But no, however, there was a plan. They rowed directly across the river, and they didn’t worry about the boat ramp. I spotted them moments later, happy at the bar. It would have it’s benefits, living ‘next door’ to a pub. Coopernook Hotel is not just any

Bright Victoria - Alpine
Family Friendly Fun

One of the prettiest places in Australia – Bright, Victoria

The Ovens River is up! The last time we visited Bright in the Alpine region of Victoria was earlier this year – there was an annual cycle event. People everywhere, and car parks were scarce. What are we kidding – every time we are here the tourist town is pumping! However we still found a delicious lunch, and a picnic spot with a view.  Heatley’s mum and sister were there this week and they were awed by the force of the Ovens River. His Mum said: “Bright is the prettiest place. Bright Riverside Caravan Park was lovely, too – with great

Crossing the Nullarbor – our adventure from Western Australia into South Australia

On the end of our Big Lap, on limited time, we traversed The Nullarbor in two days. Kids were due back at school, we had businesses to run but were so keen to experience this famed road trip. We left Esperance and the beauty of Cape Le Grand National Park, through Grass Patch and the heart of Mallee Country. The Nullarbor Plain begins in Norseman, Western Australia – we saw camels here, which was pretty cool. “The Nullarbor” is an 1100km route. Here’s where we stopped: Balladonia was a lunch stop with a pretty multicoloured picket fenced playground. Oh, we were so
