Tasmania? I think we’ll move here! Had a swim in the Bass Strait on this trip, a wee in a bank vault (truly), saw falls, aqua beaches, historic lighthouse and met travelling nurses on a hike, cottages and we slept under a nut! Beauty on every turn.
Russell Falls, Mount Field National Park, Tasmania by Overland Exposure Hot showers and a laundry at a national park camp? Yes, and yes at Mount Field Campground in Tasmania! CAMPS Ambassadors, Manda and Daniel say this campground is: “high on our fave list and absolutely recommend camping here when in the area!” HorseShoe Falls – credit Daniel Courtney Photography You’ll find the this camp inside the national park’s main entrance, next to the visitor centre. Here’s a free site in the north east corner of Tasmania – so easy distances from Musselroe Bay, Petal Point or Waterhouse Conservation Area.
Just minutes out of Launceston, you’ll find Old Macs Caravan & Motorhome Farm Stay. If you’re travelling with the kids, you’ll love this family friendly top spot in Tassie.
Tasmania’s rugged western coastline has some of the most beautiful views you will encounter. Camper Jenni Smith recently stopped over for the night at our newest budget spot, the Marrawah Inn and sent us these pictures. The Inn was built in 1913 as a boarding house and general store and while it is a small township, it’s noted for its big swells and some of the most majestic landscape in the north west. New owner Michelle Kelly has opened overnight camping for self contained RV’s. It includes a cafe and bistro serving up that famous Cape Grim beef and hearty
Tasmania has so many romantic locations! We loved our walk to Liffey Falls, with a pretty free camp, a donation camp nearby and a new farmstay in the area! Firstly, I have to say on our drive to Liffey Falls in the Great Western Tiers, you come across the BEST views like the one above… Liffey Falls includes not just one waterfall – but four: Alexandra Falls, Hopetoun Falls, Albert Falls and Victoria Falls (known as “Liffey Falls”). We took the shorter walk from the top carpark (a day use area only). There’s shelters, information boards, picnic and barbecue facilities at the carpark. https://youtu.be/Isc7dQdEFSM
Travellers @seaustravl had three incredible days at pet friendly, free camp Cosy Corner North A colourful camping mecca, add The Bay of Fires to your itinerary! Just north of beautiful Binalong, not far from St Helens on the east coast of Tasmania, you’ll find 5 stunning beach camps, one after another! All free, and located in the well known Bay of Fires Conservation Area. https://youtu.be/OSyGR25ihXM We marvelled at the views, some campers had snaffled up pure oceanfront sites on little coves. Others were only metres from beach paths, with good facilities. In all of the locations, there’s fishing and swimming, you would be lulled
If you are driving between Devonport and Burnie on Tasmania’s east coast, make sure you take the time to enjoy the region. Although we only spent a few nights, we benefited from our friend’s local knowledge and we covered a lot of country. The Central Coast of Tasmania has two main towns – Ulverstone and Penguin. Here’s some of our highlights: Ulverstone Our first night in Tassie was not a disappointment! Our mates had talked up the quality of local produce and cellar door since they left Rainbow Beach to farm life on the Apple Isle. They took us to
