Theebine Hotel owner, Jackson If you haven’t been to Theebine, then you should! Update: We were back again, last weekend for the opening of the new deck at Theebine Hotel. What a night, and I slept like a baby in the van. Check out the photos on our socials! We visited last September, met the publican, some CAMPS fans (thanks Jeanette and friends) and said hi to the local councillor, Cr Dolly Jensen and had a lovely relaxed lunch! Since then, the Mary River flooded and has caused dreadful damage to the area. So, I’d say, they need your support even
After a low-key two and a half years, the Barrow Creek Hotel has been able to revitalise and offer meals and a place to stay to the weary traveller between Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. This welcoming roadhouse charges a small fee for unpowered pet-friendly sites at the side of the pub with use of amenities, and a bit extra for power. For a real Aussie outback experience, stop in at the roadhouse, enjoy a meal and support this long-time local business. The pub itself is almost 90 years old, with the owner, Les, operating it for the last 34
The Jordan Valley Hotel in Jericho, QLD is new to CAMPS 11 – you’ll also find it on the CAMPS AUSTRALIA WIDE App. It is QLD site 443 in Camps 11, we checked it out on our Outback Queensland trip last year. Robert and Gay Stubbs purchased the business in 2005 but didn’t take over management themselves until 2013. Gay makes meals for any workers staying in the rooms, even packing them a nice morning tea and lunch for their days at work. Thursday night is Pizza night and Friday nights the older locals get a nice home-cooked meal.

Well, we are pleased to share the news that the icon in the Outback has finally opened its doors! You can camp behind the Hotel, across the road at the Betoota Rest Area (QLD site 522 in Camps 10) or down by the creek where you can catch some yabbies or yellow belly! The pub has fireplaces, generators are allowed and picnic tables. It is pet friendly, has power, toilets and hot showers. (There’s a fee for showers.) The

Our team are compiling a list of sites that are open and ready for your business. So stay tuned. In this issue we’re sharing a Station Stay in WA with a difference, a Freedom Camp in Victoria that
We thoroughly recommend this lovely pub with friendly staff at Uki. Arriving late (we lost an hour crossing the border into NSW), fortunately the pub was still open for meals. I snagged a table on the verandah, and sipped our cold drinks whilst we waited for lunch to arrive. My niece said it was, ‘the best chicken schnitzel I had in a long time’. Real chicken breast – and the gravy is included. Likewise, our son loved his pizza, the rest of us ate the yummy schnitzels as well. I had our choice of two sides – for example: spuds,
